For me, coming to Michigan State has been a life-changing experience. The feeling of a football Saturday on a sunny fall day is something that cannot be duplicated. Jumping up and down in the Izzone while watching the basketball team gives me a chance to be a part of the best student cheering section in the nation. Walking to class on the banks of the Red Cedar River makes everyday a little brighter and inspiring. To me — these are the things that make me appreciative to be a Spartan.
As we say here in East Lansing — I bleed green! My residence hall room is full of school spirit. I can never have too much green and white. I’m co-director of the Izzone (the most intimidating student section in the world!) and member of the Corner Blitz, which is the cheering section for the football team. I’m also a member of the Student Alumni Foundation, which means I give campus tours to prospective students and serve as an escort for Sparty — our very famous mascot. It’s hard to do so much with a full course load, but it forces me to be very organized and to use my time wisely. Time management is a key in college.
I'm in the Lyman Briggs School of Science, which is a residential living-learning program for the natural sciences. Based in Holmes Hall, almost everyone enrolled in the program lives in Holmes and attends classes in the same facility. It’s great being surrounded by people who share the same interests. Once I’m finished with my undergraduate studies, I’m planning to attend MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. I’m in MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine Medical Scholars Program now working hard to get prepared. After that, I hope to someday return to my hometown of Harbor Beach and serve the community that I grew up in.
I really like to play basketball at IM East, one of the intramural sports facilities on campus. It’s good exercise, a great stress reliever and it gives me a break from the hustle and bustle of school. I also play on a couple different intramural teams, including basketball, indoor soccer, volleyball and dodgeball. Yes, I said dodgeball — it’s great!

My pal Sparty and I hung out at the Izzone Campout, which I helped to coordinate. Every year it’s held on Munn Field. This past year more than 1,800 students pitched tents.

Here’s me and MSU’s famous Green Man Group. We were in St. Louis where MSU was playing in the Final Four.

This is me and a bunch of my friends at the MSU winter formal.
